Benefits of Cannassage
Adding hemp botanicals to your massage experience will bring the pain-relieving and relaxation benefits of regular massage to a deeper level. The cannabis plant has been used for thousands of years by many cultures for healing.
What exactly is CBD?
CBD, short for Cannabidiol, is a phytocannabinoid derived from cannabis or hemp (cannabis bred without THC). It is one of over one hundred different phytocannabinoids found in cannabis. CBD has been shown to have various healing properties such as anti-inflammation, pain reduction, and skin repair.
Will I get high?
No, CBD does not produce psychoactive effects, and there is no danger of failing a drug test. However, you may feel high on life after your cannabis massage!
How does it work?
Cannabis-infused oils work by binding to a network of receptors called CB2. These CB2 receptors are found throughout the body and are activated either by the body’s naturally-occurring endocannabinoids or by cannabis compounds known as “phytocannabinoids.”
Because cannabinoid receptors are located all throughout the skin, CBD has the capability of interacting with those receptors to encourage homeostasis and healing. Studies show that CBD can help treat an array of conditions related to the skin. Atopic dermatitis, also called eczema, has been shown to improve after treatment with hemp oil. Also, CBD can adjust the output of oils in the skin and hair and inhibit skin cells’ lipid production, making it effective for preventing acne. A 2013 study published in the British Journal of Pharmacology found that CBD controls cell proliferation and differentiation, indicating it can be used in treatment efforts for skin diseases like allergies or cancer.
If you are a Hawai’i medical cannabis patient, I invite you to bring in your own oil. If you don’t have your own, you’re in luck! I have a fully legal CBD topical oil derived from hemp that does not contain THC.
CBD Massage is an additional $10 well-spent on your mind-body health.
